TL;DR
Senior Software Design Release Engineer (Suspension): Supporting sourcing, validating, root cause analysis, and releasing software for outsourced suspension control modules with an accent on supplier coordination, end-to-end validation, and production release. Focus on leading PRTS investigations, managing full test plans, and ensuring integrated ART solutions meet milestones in a SAFe Scrum environment.
Hybrid: expected to report to Warren, Michigan at least 3 times a week (or as dictated by manager). No immigration sponsorship; must be authorized to work in the US without company support (H1-B, OPT, etc.). No relocation benefits.

What you will do
- Address controller and system safety concerns and lead product issue investigations via PRTS, process improvements, and quality initiatives.
- Gather documents for sourcing, provide technical expertise in purchasing, and facilitate requirements/design reviews (DFMEA, DRBFM, peer reviews) with suppliers.
- Negotiate changes with suppliers and engineering teams, update requirement documents, and organize Controller PDT meetings.
- Own software release for development and production, manage part number proliferation, and create validation plans (worst case analysis, bench, design/process validation).
- Coordinate full test plans including supplier, regulatory, subsystem, safety, and cybersecurity testing; keep suppliers on milestones and monitor production changes.
- Perform warranty analysis, issue resolution, supplier/plant visits, and report to leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science.
- Minimum 5+ years of automotive experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software/hardware requirements comprehension and providing direction to engineers.
- High-level knowledge of software verification/validation processes, engineering principles for mechanical/electrical mechanisms.
- Strong analytical, oral/written communication, and interpersonal skills to work independently and with partners.
- Must be authorized to work in the US; no immigration sponsorship provided.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in relevant field.
- 8+ years of DRE experience.
- DFSS Black Belt Certified.
- Experience with GM product release processes, customer interface technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle serial data (CAN, GMLAN, LIN), dynamics, electronic chassis, OBD-II, Functional Safety, SAFe Agile.
