What you will do

• Synthesize organic compounds and polymers at laboratory scale, up to several hundred grams.
• Use analytical methods to support process development, characterize products, and verify final product quality.
• Document experiments and help prepare technology transfer packages for CROs and CMOs.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures during laboratory and scale-up activities.
• Maintain laboratory organization, material and inventory databases, and chemical reagent supplies.
• Present research progress in technical discussions and meetings while supporting senior chemists.

Requirements

• B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry, preferably from an ACS-accredited program.
• Thorough understanding of undergraduate-level chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry.
• Experience with distillation, filtration, closed transfer, crystallization, rotary evaporators, vacuum pumps and ovens, and small- and large-scale glassware.
• Experience analyzing compounds and reaction mixtures using HPLC, GC, MS, UV/VIS, FTIR, NMR, TLC, IR, or GCMS.
• Ability to evaluate safety risks and reactivity concerns during multigram-scale, multistep organic synthesis.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, critical-thinking, and teamwork skills.

• Polymerization experience.
• Experience with process improvement and development of production or test methods.
