TL;DR

Pipeline Software Engineer (Python/C++): Developing and maintaining tools and scripts to optimize workflows across AAA Game Development, VFX, and Production with an accent on artist toolsets, asset tracking, and pipeline integration. Focus on integrating ShotGrid with DCC tools, building custom plugins for Unreal Engine and Maya, and automating production pipelines.

Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Los Angeles, CA. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary: $130,000 – $140,000

What you will do

  • Integrate ShotGrid toolkit workflows with Unreal Editor, Maya, Houdini, and Nuke.
  • Develop and maintain custom tools, templates, and scripts for Game Dev, VFX, and Production teams.
  • Design and implement 3D asset creation, ingest, tracking, and delivery pipelines.
  • Create Python and C++ plugins and extensions for 3rd party platforms including Unreal Engine and Adobe CC.
  • Collaborate with non-technical users to define requirements and develop UIs for automation tools.
  • Manage software development lifecycles using CI/CD and version control via Git/GitLab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Visualization, VFX or equivalent experience.
  • 3-6 years of professional experience with ShotGrid in animation, gaming, or VFX environments.
  • Deep understanding of the VFX pipeline from shooting to final delivery.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, and PySide/PyQt/Qt.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine Blueprints and C++ development.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with LLMs or Generative AI.
  • Familiarity with building and managing services on Linux container platforms like Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Experience with shader development and GLSL.
