Data Centre Engineer (Infrastructure)

TL;DR

Data Centre Engineer (Infrastructure): Responsible for the physical build, maintenance, and hardware deployment of data center environments with an accent on cabling, rack and stack, and hardware troubleshooting. Focus on ensuring high availability of financial market infrastructure through precise installation, auditing, and emergency response.

Location: Home base is Tokyo; requires travel within APAC and occasionally to EMEA and AMRS.

What you will do

• Perform equipment rack and stack, including cabling, labeling, and terminating fiber or copper network cabling.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware/software issues, performing blade/card, memory, hard drive, and transceiver installations.
• Conduct cabinet/cage audits, inventory verification, and maintain rack elevations.
• Manage shipping and receiving of packages and coordinate cross-connect installations.
• Monitor and report on power utilization in co-locations while maintaining overall facility cleanliness.
• Provide emergency outage assistance and work flexible shift schedules including rotational on-call coverage.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in Telecommunications or Data Centre related fields.
• In-depth knowledge of Telecom structured cabling standards, server deployment, and DCO operations.
• Experience using industry-standard test equipment.
• Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM).
• Professional business communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work non-standard shifts (Tuesday to Saturday) and report to facilities within 1 hour for emergencies.
• Willingness to travel within APAC and globally on short notice.
