Software Engineer, Trip Platform

Location: On-site in Mountain View or San Francisco, California

Salary: $175,000–$215,000 USD annually, plus discretionary annual bonus, equity incentives, and company benefits.

Waymo develops autonomous driving technology and operates a fully autonomous ride-hailing service powered by the Waymo Driver.

What you will do

• Implement and scale the core trip platform for ride-hailing, delivery, and B2B partner use cases.
• Design and implement partner-facing API services for customer-hailing scenarios.
• Build services for managing trip requests and calculating pickup, ride times, and ride prices.
• Collaborate with external partners to build Waymo experiences on third-party platforms.
• Use Google technologies including OnePlatform API, Borg, Spanner, Flume, and custom-built systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience programming in backend coding languages.
• Experience building backend applications and APIs.
• Experience with low-latency, large-scale, user-facing distributed systems.
• Domain knowledge in transportation, mobility, or autonomous vehicles.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
