TL;DR

Robotics Software Test Engineer (Robotics/Python): Designing and implementing test infrastructure, CI/CD gates, and hardware-in-the-loop validation systems for AI-powered food assembly robots with an accent on system-level integration and reliability. Focus on building automated test frameworks, root-causing production failures across hardware-software boundaries, and developing simulation-based environments.

Location: On-site in San Francisco (5 days a week)

Salary: $140,000 – $180,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement automated test plans, cases, and fixtures across the full robot software stack.
• Build and own hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test infrastructure to validate perception, robotics, and platform software.
• Strengthen and extend CI/CD pipelines to catch regressions early and gate releases.
• Define quality metrics and track test coverage, failure trends, and fleet health.
• Investigate and root-cause production failures across software, hardware, and system boundaries.
• Develop simulation-based test environments to validate changes before deploying to physical robots.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software test engineering or reliability engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Hands-on experience designing and building test infrastructure and integrating it into release pipelines.
• Strong debugging instincts to trace failures across software layers and hardware interfaces.
• Experience working in Linux-based development and production environments.
• Must be based in or able to work on-site in San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience testing robotics software stacks (ROS, perception pipelines, control systems).
• Familiarity with simulation environments like Gazebo or Isaac Sim.
• Experience with Docker or containerized test environments.
• Knowledge of networking protocols relevant to robotics (TCP/UDP, PTP, gRPC).
• Experience with hardware bring-up, sensor calibration, or embedded systems testing.
