Location: Remote within Canada (country of employment)
Salary: CAD 178,000 - 228,000 per year

What you will do
- Define and drive vision and technical strategy for Developer Environments on a year-long scale, aligning with business-impacting projects.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Own design, scalability, reliability, and usability of ephemeral developer environments used in development and CI.
- Improve provisioning, stability, teardown workflows, startup time, success rates, performance, and debuggability.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operational playbooks; collaborate with CI/CD, infrastructure, security, and product teams.
- Drive adoption of tooling, identify pain points, and improve productivity through automation and self-service.
Requirements
- 7+ years software engineering experience, 2+ years engineering management (or equivalent people leadership)
- Proven experience leading teams in infrastructure, platform engineering, or developer productivity.
- Strong technical background in backend/infrastructure systems (Python or Kotlin preferred).
- Experience with cloud-native systems (AWS, Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code, containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD (Buildkite, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Track record operating high-reliability services (monitoring, on-call, incident response, postmortems).
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills; comfort with trade-offs.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Prior experience building or managing ephemeral or remote development environments.
- Experience optimizing orchestration, startup times, and developer feedback loops.
- Background in test automation, build engineering, or developer tooling.
- Familiarity with Terraform/Helm or similar.
