Principal Systems Engineer

TL;DR

Principal Systems Engineer (Defense Cyber): Leading development of technical solutions for complex cryptographic and key management systems with an accent on systems engineering processes, V lifecycle, and high-quality requirements. Focus on designing modular architectures, ensuring compliance with standards, and delivering artifacts across the product lifecycle.

Location: Onsite in Maidenhead, UK. Must be British Citizen resident in the UK for the past 5 years (SC) or 10 years (DV) to obtain and maintain security clearance. Able to travel within UK.

What you will do

• Lead systems engineering for work packages, delivering on time and budget while supporting the Engineering Project Lead.
• Develop technical solutions to complex engineering problems using Systems Engineering processes and V lifecycle.
• Create and review systems engineering artifacts across the product lifecycle, ensuring customer requirements satisfaction.
• Provide technical direction on architecture, design, and implementation; collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software architects.
• Plan and present at design reviews; manage customers, suppliers, and proposals for bids.
• Lead teams, coach reports, and contribute to discipline improvements and recruitment.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent Defence/Aerospace experience.
• Significant experience in Systems Engineering, V lifecycle, requirements development, and full lifecycle implementation per ISO/IEEE/IEC standards.
• Technical and line management experience leading systems engineers.
• Experience writing and reviewing technical documentation; knowledge of DOORS, UML, Enterprise Architect, SysML.
• Hands-on development experience in hardware, software, or firmware, especially embedded environments.
• Has attained SC clearance; able to obtain and maintain DV clearance. Clean driving license.

Nice to have

• INCOSE ASEP or CSEP recognition.
• Experience as technical SME and developing new expertise areas.
• NCSC security processes and delivery of security artifacts.
