Senior PCB Design Engineer

TL;DR

Senior PCB Design Engineer: Design and layout complex multi-layer (4–20 layers) rigid, semi-rigid or flexi Printed Circuit Boards for commercial, security, aerospace and space sectors with an accent on high-reliability circuits, security, EMC and TEMPEST compliance. Focus on routing analogue, RF, digital, power, high-speed layouts, incorporating test points, and ensuring DFM, DFT, signal integrity.

Location: Onsite in Maidenhead (UK). Must be a British Citizen resident in the UK for the past 5 years (for SC clearance) or 10 years (for DV).

What you will do

• Design and layout complex multi-layer PCBs with through, buried and blind vias following Ultra’s processes.
• Route analogue, RF, digital, power, high-speed and reliable circuits per DO-254 if required, considering security, EMC and TEMPEST.
• Incorporate test points for production testability without compromising performance.
• Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, production, procurement and supply chain teams to meet requirements, stack-up, DRC, DFM and space constraints.
• Administer CAD libraries, participate in design reviews, estimate efforts, and propose process improvements.
• Generate technical proposals and explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering, mathematical or science-based subject or equivalent experience.
• Experience in PCB design, routing and layout of complex, high-density assemblies including through-hole and fine-pitch SMT.
• Extensive experience with industry standard PCB layout and simulation tools.
• In-depth knowledge of routing practices, IPC standards, DFM and DFT implementation.
• Proven record with modern tools for multi-layer, high-speed digital, RF, analogue and power PCBs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain UK security clearance (SC or DV); must be British Citizen with 5/10 years UK residency.

• Signal integrity analysis on PCBs.
