What you will do

• Perform on-orbit geometric calibration for FireSat satellites during the commissioning phase.
• Design and implement camera geometry models and geolocation calibration for multispectral infrared imagery.
• Develop algorithms for bundle adjustment, orthorectification, and atmospheric corrections.
• Research and implement metrics for geometric accuracy, image registration, and spatial data quality.
• Build and operate production pipelines for geometric calibration and geospatial data processing.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to design and maintain operational services for remote sensing missions.

Requirements

• PhD with 5+ years, MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years of experience in remote sensing, photogrammetry, geodesy, astronomy, or physics.
• Hands-on experience with geometric calibration of imaging instruments.
• Deep knowledge of remote sensing science and photogrammetric processing.
• Strong mathematical skills in geometry, linear algebra, and statistics.
• Exceptional skills in Python-based development and analysis.
• Must be a U.S. person or eligible to access export-controlled information (ITAR/EAR).

Nice to have

• Experience calibrating on-orbit instruments.
• Experience with mid-wave or long-wave infrared instruments and data processing.
• Familiarity with geospatial tooling and formats (XArray, COG, GeoTIFF, NetCDF).
• Experience with cloud-native systems, preferably AWS.
• Experience with image quality assessment (MTF, spatial resolution characterization).
