Senior Manager, Application Engineering

TL;DR

Senior Manager, Application Engineering (Azure/AI): Leading the design, delivery, and technical evolution of bespoke applications supporting enterprise-wide mission, fundraising, and operational needs with an accent on scalable architecture, security, integrations, and AI prototyping. Focus on end-to-end lifecycle management, cross-functional collaboration, vendor oversight, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards under complex projects.

Location: Hybrid from anywhere in Canada; must be available to work in Toronto 4/6 times a year. Currently residing in Canada and legally entitled to work in Canada required.

Salary: $95,000 to $120,000

What you will do

• Engage stakeholders across business, product, fundraising, marketing, and mission teams to clarify requirements, priorities, timelines, and technical feasibility.
• Lead application strategy, technical roadmaps, prioritization, and capacity planning for multiple concurrent initiatives including modernization and migrations.
• Drive end-to-end solution design, architecture, execution, and deployment ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with enterprise standards.
• Manage team execution, vendor oversight, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and operational transitions.
• Prototype and integrate AI initiatives, embedding security and production readiness.
• Foster operational excellence through agile practices, documentation, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Lead talent development, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years technical leadership of developer/engineer/analyst teams; 7+ years in application engineering, architecture, and end-to-end delivery.
• Strong experience with Azure, API/microservices, modern stacks (React, Node.js, JavaScript, Python), CI/CD, automated testing, Git, Agile.
• Hands-on security-by-design, cloud platforms, integration (REST, event-driven), vendor management.
• Excellent stakeholder communication, problem-solving, prioritization under pressure.

• Experience with GCP or AI-enabled capabilities in applications.
