Principal Game Economist (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Principal Game Economist (Gamedev): Designing and optimizing sustainable economic systems and pricing strategies across multiple game studios with an accent on cross-studio strategy and technical mentorship. Focus on building complex predictive models, running simulations, and establishing best practices for F2P monetization.

Location: Hybrid in Barcelona, Spain (minimum 2 days per week in office)

What you will do

• Lead economic strategy and systems design on a project basis across three different studios.
• Diagnose economic health and design robust pricing and reward systems to drive engagement and business performance.
• Act as a technical leader and mentor for game-level economy designers and PMs, establishing robust frameworks.
• Build complex predictive models, run simulations, and design A/B tests to validate design decisions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Engineers across different geographies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Math, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven track record of designing and optimizing complex game economies at a senior or lead level.
• Must be based in or able to work from Barcelona, Spain.
• Mastery of Excel is mandatory.
• Deep understanding of Free-to-Play (F2P) mechanics and the balance between player experience and monetization.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL, R, or Python for deep-dive research and modeling.
• Additional background in Monetization strategy.
• Experience working on large-scale online, social, or multiplayer games.
