Field Medical Japan (Medical Science Liaison)

Location: Japan, with a hybrid work environment based at the Tokyo office. Frequent domestic and international travel of up to 70% is required.

What you will do

• Build and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, investigators, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in respiratory disease.
• Present scientific data, medical literature, and product information to healthcare professionals, academic institutions, researchers, and healthcare organizations.
• Organize advisory boards and scientific forums, capture healthcare professional insights, and support abstracts, posters, and publications.
• Provide local medical and scientific intelligence for product planning, clinical insights, and medical affairs execution.
• Support company-sponsored clinical studies, including site and investigator selection, investigator communication, and collaboration with the Medical Director and CRO.
• Support investigator-initiated study submissions, mentor internal colleagues, and discuss data-generation opportunities addressing unmet medical needs.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals, including at least 3 years as an MSL in global Medical Affairs and experience launching global products.
• Experience in respiratory disease is required.
• Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Science, or an equivalent field is required; a PhD is preferred.
• Strong understanding of biomedical research, drug development, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal Japanese and English communication skills are required.
• Strong analytical, presentation, organizational, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills, with a high ethical standard.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting a product launch.
• Experience with health outcomes, pharmacoeconomics, or population-based health management.
• PhD in Pharmacy, Life Science, or a related field.
