Senior Staff Decision Scientist (Fintech): Owning the strategy and optimization of the payment decisioning stack with an accent on authorization optimization, PSP routing, and cost vs. risk tradeoffs. Focus on improving core platform economics and customer experience by designing retry and failover strategies for high-volume transactional systems.

Location: Hybrid in New York City (2-3 days per week); relocation assistance may be available for candidates outside of NY, SF, and SLC.

Salary: $216,000–$270,000 base salary

What you will do

• Own and evolve payment decisioning and routing strategy across multiple PSPs.
• Increase authorization rates while reducing processing costs and losses using data.
• Design and evaluate retry, failover, and fallback strategies for platform reliability.
• Analyze large-scale payment and risk data to identify platform improvements.
• Build models and forecasts to assess the impact of policy and product changes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to ship platform improvements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in payments, risk, credit, or decision science.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL working with large datasets.
• Experience with high-scale transactional systems in FinTech, lending, or marketplaces.
• Familiarity with authorization optimization, loss modeling, and unit economics.
• Must be based in the US or eligible for relocation to the US.
