TL;DR
Technical Lead (C++ Networking): Leading a small engineering team to develop and maintain complex VoIP and PBX cloud communication systems with an accent on code quality, delivery, and technical direction. Focus on optimizing multithreaded networking systems, enforcing high code standards, and translating product requirements into scalable engineering tasks.
Location: Must be based in the UK (hybrid setup with occasional visits to Bristol or London offices)

What you will do
- Lead Scrum activities including sprint planning, task breakdown, and tracking.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and assign work to a team of approximately 5 engineers.
- Own and enforce code review standards to ensure maintainability and consistency of the codebase.
- Translate product requirements into detailed engineering tasks and refine user stories.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on expertise in C++ (minimum C++17).
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals, specifically TCP/UDP.
- Proven experience leading or mentoring other engineers.
- Expertise in multithreaded systems and debugging within large, complex codebases.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Jira/Atlassian tools.
- Must be based in the UK to allow for occasional office visits.
Nice to have
- Practical experience with VoIP or PBX systems and protocols (SIP, RTP).
- Experience with Boost (especially Boost.Asio).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- Experience with FreeSWITCH or real-time low-latency systems.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for coding and investigation.
