What you will do

• Design and maintain Android services and apps for headless environments, ensuring instant boot and automatic failure recovery.
• Optimize video pipelines with ExoPlayer/Media3 for 4K content, seamless looping, and multi-zone rendering.
• Implement HLS, RTSP, and Multicast streaming with low-latency delivery and robust buffer management.
• Interface with hardware APIs for serial ports, HDMI-CEC, USB-HID to control screens and peripherals.
• Develop remote device management features including background updates, telemetry, and logging.
• Ensure system reliability by managing memory leaks, thermal throttling, and offline data persistence.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional Android development experience
• Expertise in Kotlin/Java and Android SDK, including background Services, Broadcast Receivers, WorkManager
• Strong experience with media playback (ExoPlayer/Media3) and streaming protocols (HLS, RTSP, DASH, Multicast)
• Hands-on with hardware-accelerated video decoding (H.264/HEVC)
• Networking knowledge: Sockets, MQTT, WebSockets
• Performance optimization using Android Profiler/Systrace and building always-on systems
• Modern architecture: MVVM, Clean Architecture, Dagger/Hilt

Nice to have

• Experience with SoC displays (Sony Pro Bravia, Philips/TPV, Android Media Players)
• AOSP, Android Enterprise, Custom ROMs, or MDM APIs
• WebView and hardware-accelerated Chromium rendering
• CI/CD for physical device deployments
