Senior Scrum Master / Release Train Engineer

Senior Scrum Master / Release Train Engineer (SAFe): Serving as hands-on agile leader coaching Scrum Masters across teams and facilitating one to two scrum teams with an accent on elevating agile maturity, ART ceremonies, and program delivery. Focus on PI Planning, impediment resolution, metrics-driven improvements, and aligning execution with strategic objectives.

Location: Remote (Texas, US) – must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

Salary: $110,500 - $165,700 USD

What you will do

• Coach, mentor, and develop Scrum Masters across multiple teams to improve agile maturity and consistency.
• Facilitate ART-level ceremonies like PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, Inspect & Adapt, and System Demos.
• Assess team agile practices, provide guidance, and evolve best practices and playbooks organization-wide.
• Escalate cross-team impediments, dependencies, risks, and partner with Product Management and leadership for alignment.
• Track program metrics (velocity, predictability, quality) and build community of practice among Scrum Masters.
• Serve as Scrum Master for 1-2 teams: facilitate events, manage tasks/issues/risks, monitor progress, remove impediments, and organize demos/reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, business, or relevant field preferred
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) required; SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe RTE, or SAFe SPC strongly preferred
• 5+ years as Scrum Master, including 2+ years in senior/lead/RTE role
• Experience coaching/mentoring other Scrum Masters or agile practitioners
• Deep knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, SAFe; experience with PI Planning and multi-team coordination
• Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Nice to have

• Experience in scaled agile (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus)
• Background in software development or IT project delivery
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally
• Track record improving team velocity, predictability, or agile maturity
