Radar Engineer

TL;DR

Radar Engineer (RF Systems): Support design, integration, test, and validation of ground and flight radar payload hardware and software with an accent on signal processing chains, beamforming, calibration, and SDR development. Focus on transitioning radar systems from near-field to far-field validation, payload integration into test platforms, and environmental testing of subsystems.

Location: Golden, Colorado, United States. Restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and protected individuals due to U.S. export control laws.

Salary: $110k - $130k subject to local market and candidate skills and experience.

What you will do

• Support transition of radar systems from near-field to far-field validation.
• Contribute to payload integration in transportable test platforms.
• Implement and test radar signal processing chains including beamforming, calibration workflows, and pulse compression.
• Support final design, procurement, and testing of radar subsystems.
• Participate in acceptance testing, environmental testing, and system bring-up.
• Assist in flight radar SDR development, validation, and test plans for manufactured units.
• Stand up payload-level integration and test infrastructure, including assembly, checkout, and regression testing.
• Maintain integration procedures, test reports, and configuration documentation.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or similar.
• 2+ years hands-on experience with RF or digital hardware integration (Ka-band or mmWave RF systems preferred).
• Familiarity with radar systems or phased-array architectures (ideally beamforming, phased-array calibration, SDR platforms, FPGA-based receivers/exciters).
• Familiar with lab test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope).
• Comfort with embedded systems, Linux environments, and scripting.
• Ability to learn complex systems through hands-on data analysis and testing.
• Clear technical communication skills, explaining assumptions, limitations, and trade-offs.
