What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for device connectivity, telemetry ingest, health monitoring, and command/control using AI as a first-class collaborator.
• Implement agentic workflows to accelerate delivery: generating scaffolding, code, tests, and incident triage.
• Define AI-native engineering practices and playbooks for the Devices Cloud team and broader organization.
• Collaborate with firmware, mobile, and product teams on APIs and workflows for device features.
• Build data pipelines for high-throughput telemetry with Kafka or similar, and scalable microservices on AWS.
• Instrument services for observability, participate in on-call, mentor teammates, and improve standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years building/operating backend services in Java, Go, Python or similar
• Hands-on with LLMs: prompting, evaluating, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, MCP/function calling
• Track record using AI tools to boost output in specs, tests, code, debugging
• Strong microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems, cloud infra (AWS preferred), databases, streaming
• Collaboration skills and ability to articulate tradeoffs
• Drive to pioneer AI-native practices for hardware-connected systems

• IoT, telematics, embedded/hardware systems
• Kafka, Kinesis, high-frequency ingest, time-series data
• Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, DataDog)
