Field Engineer

TL;DR

Field Engineer: Provide build, testing, analysis, deployment, and troubleshooting/lifecycle support for hardware/software/network systems and applications with an accent on site requirements analysis, system integration, and compliance with COMSEC policies. Focus on configuring Cisco networks, Microsoft systems, fiber cabling installations, and ensuring project visibility through close collaboration with customer personnel.

Location: Sterling, VA (Fairfax area). Up to 50% CONUS travel and 10% OCONUS travel required, including hazard areas. Must have TS/SCI clearance with Poly on day one.

What you will do

• Analyze site requirements, track installation progress, and collaborate with customer personnel and project managers for visibility into equipment needs.
• Work with procurement for equipment identification, handle uncrating, setup, build-out, configuration, and customization of hardware/software.
• Perform system integration, testing, pack-out, shipment, site surveys, rack elevations drawings, and training for onsite personnel.
• Conduct tests, inspections, verifications ensuring compliance with COMSEC policies, project management requirements, and lifecycle support.
• Troubleshoot and provide Tier 3 support for technical systems in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Requirements

• TS/SCI clearance with Poly required on day one and eligible for crossover.
• 4+ years experience; B.S. in Computer Engineering or related (equivalent experience accepted).
• Familiarity with Cisco network devices, IOS, routing protocols, SNMP, TCP/IP, Ethernet, QoS, Optical Networking.
• Proficiency in installing leased lines, power systems, Type-1 Crypto, fiber cabling, network equipment; Microsoft Systems Engineering, Windows 10/Server 2012/2016, Hyper-V.
• Experience with multi-layer switches, routers, firewalls, workstations, satellite/secure comms, fiber/Ethernet cabling termination, McAfee suite.
• Strong performance as technical leader in multi-contractor environments, ability to communicate technical ideas to diverse stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in CONUS/OCONUS environments, site surveys, technical training for foreign/domestic audiences.
• Certifications: MCSE, CCIE; knowledge of VMware/ESXi, NetApp storage, CSFC technologies, SCCM, secure remote mobile computing.
• Current experience in classified/unclassified distributed work environments.
