TL;DR
Telecommunications Specialist/Systems Engineer: Provide satellite voice/data, landline, telephone, secure and non-secure voice troubleshooting/support to government agencies in a 24/7 Operations Center with an accent on incident and event management, crisis communications. Focus on operating, maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting communications equipment including routers, switches, servers, cryptographic and UHF gear, and maintaining high-speed data links.
Location: Onsite shift position (day) in Sterling, VA / Tysons Corner area. Typical schedule 5AM–5PM (3 on 4 off, 4 on 3 off).

What you will do
- Provide satellite voice/data, landline, telephone, secure/non-secure voice troubleshooting and support.
- Support Operations Center with focus on incident/event management and 24-hour Crisis Communications.
- Operate, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot routers, switches, servers, leased lines, cryptographic, and UHF equipment.
- Develop and maintain network/system monitoring tools for global communications.
- Use data analytics and data science tools for situational awareness and predictive monitoring.
- Maintain integrity of multiple high-speed data links and provide VIP communications support to senior officials.
Requirements
- Must have TS/SCI security clearance with Poly on day one and eligible for crossover
- Experience providing 24/7 rotational support in telecommunications spectrum.
- Knowledge of operations, technical, and security in 24/7 Crisis Communications Facility.
- Knowledge of telecommunications software/hardware and monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with switches, routers, servers, STE, IDNX, leased lines, cryptographic, UHF radio equipment.
- Ability to maintain high-speed data links and handle multiple tasks in emergencies.
- 4+ years relevant experience; college/technical/sponsor experience (equivalent field experience substitutable).
Nice to have
- Systems/Network Operations Center experience.
- Experience with SPLUNK, Riverbed, StealthWatch, Network Node Manager, HP OpenView.
- Data science technologies, incident/event management, rotational schedules.
- Familiarity with Agency Communications Protocols, international travel/OCONUS experience.
- Experience supporting executive-level staff.
