What you will do

• Design, develop, and ship high-quality agent experiences, such as issue-to-PR coding agents and asynchronous task execution.
• Architect and evolve agentic coding systems orchestrating LLM tool use, planning loops, and sandboxed code execution.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code reviews to support the growth of other engineers.
• Champion responsible AI practices, including prompt-injection defenses, permission scoping, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
• Drive the technical roadmap for Copilot Agents to align with product goals and emerging AI capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement APIs for seamless component integration.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience delivering production software using languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Experience designing and maintaining complex, scalable technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience building agentic systems (planning loops, RAG, sandboxed execution) on frontier LLMs like GPT-4 or Claude.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native (CNCF) concepts.
• Experience with evaluation methodologies for non-deterministic AI systems (A/B experiments, offline benchmarks).

• Knowledge of AI safety and security concerns like prompt injection and sandbox escape.
