Location: Hybrid: Onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in San Mateo, CA

What you will do

  • Lead and grow a high-performing team of Backend and Data Engineers for Homepage and Discovery product surfaces.
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for large-scale content discovery, personalization, ranking, and backend-serving systems.
  • Drive high-impact initiatives including Personalization-as-a-Platform and real-time user signal infrastructure.
  • Partner with Machine Learning, Data Science, Product, and Design teams to deliver measurable product impact.
  • Build a strong engineering culture focused on technical excellence, reliability, and talent development.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead Manager leading backend, data, or personalization teams.
  • Strong technical depth in distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, and high-throughput backend platforms.
  • Experience operating large-scale, consumer-facing production systems with high reliability requirements.
  • Track record of delivering complex, ambiguous, cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Must have United States work authorization (certain visa categories and H-1B sponsorship may not be supported).
