Principal Consultant (Rail Advisory)

Location: Hybrid (UK). Must spend 60% of time in the office or on-site with clients.

What you will do

• Provide strategic advice to national and regional governments, private rail companies, and industry bodies.
• Develop business cases, perform demand and revenue forecasting, and conduct commercial analysis.
• Manage project teams and make critical technical and commercial decisions to ensure project success.
• Specify, review, and challenge analytical methodologies consistent with industry best practice.
• Tailor complex technical analysis for non-technical audiences through strong communication.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of the GB Rail industry.
• Extensive experience in rail industry analytical skills (commercial, strategic planning, or operations).
• Proven ability to manage project teams and deliver commercially successful projects.
• Ability to specify and critically challenge analytical methodologies.
• Proficiency in analytical and modelling software, specifically Excel.

Nice to have

• Experience working on international railway projects.
• Proficiency in database programming.
• Ability to coach and develop junior team members.
• Experience in bid development and business development activities.
