Quality Engineer I (UAS Drones)

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems compliant with AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, FAA, and FCC standards.
• Create inspection plans, control plans, and process flow diagrams for consistent quality output.
• Support internal/external audits, MRB activities, and First Article Inspections per AS9102.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality teams to resolve issues and meet requirements.
• Lead root cause corrective actions using 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D, and drive continuous improvement with Lean/Six Sigma.
• Handle customer quality needs including complaints, audits, and corrective action requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field
• 5+ years in quality engineering
• Hands-on experience with supplier, incoming, in-line, and end-of-line quality systems
• Background in software QA, test planning, and automation
• Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001, ITAR, FAA compliance
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residence (ITAR/EAR); background check required
• Willingness to travel 10%
• Proficiency with corrective actions, non-conformances, and PLM systems

Nice to have

• FAA Part 107 certification
• Experience in drone, aerospace, or defense industries
• Six Sigma, CQE, or Lean Manufacturing certifications
• Prior work with government contracts or DoD programs
• Familiarity with FAA Drone Zone, LAANC, NOTAMs, and waivers
