SR Manager, Transmission Strategy - ERCOT

What you will do

• Lead transmission strategy for ERCOT and potentially additional continental U.S. energy markets.
• Develop market-wide transmission strategies and apply them to greenfield development, acquisitions, and the existing project pipeline.
• Conduct and oversee transmission planning, load flow studies, and project-specific network impact assessments.
• Run nodal production cost models to evaluate dispatch, curtailment, and locational marginal pricing trends.
• Partner with Development, Commercial, and Execution teams throughout the project lifecycle, from prospecting through interconnection studies and agreement execution.
• Facilitate transmission strategies with RTOs and assess deliverability risks, opportunities, and wheeling strategies.

Requirements

• Deep experience in transmission planning, market design, and interconnection policy.
• Hands-on experience running power flow analysis using tools such as powerGEM TARA, Siemens PSS/E, or GE PSLF.
• Hands-on experience running nodal production cost models using tools such as PROMOD, UPLAN, GE MAPS, or Aurora.
• Experience with FERC, ISO, RTO, or transmission-owner planning and generation interconnection processes.
• Ability to communicate complex technical content clearly in commercial and non-technical settings and resolve complex challenges.
• Willingness to travel as needed, generally no more than 10% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with multiple RTOs, resource adequacy, or market operations.
• Experience overseeing contractors or others conducting power flow studies.
• Knowledge of short circuit and stability analysis, transmission services agreements, or wheeling across balancing authorities.
• Renewable energy development experience.
• AI or automation experience.
