Development Engineer

TL;DR

Development Engineer (Mechanical/Manufacturing): Supports design, validation, and improvement of products and manufacturing processes with an accent on creating and maintaining clear work instructions, manufacturing flow charts, BOMs, and routings. Focus on translating engineering requirements into user-friendly documentation, implementing Lean methods, and providing production support for new product introductions and failure analysis.

What you will do

• Create, review, and update detailed work instructions for new products, process changes, and improvements
• Translate engineering designs and specifications into step-by-step instructions and manufacturing flow charts
• Develop manufacturing BOMs, routings, methods, tooling, equipment, and Lean Manufacturing practices
• Provide production support for engineering development, design for manufacturing, and transition to production
• Assist in bids, new product development, and root cause failure analysis

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent and 4+ years of experience
• Work instruction authoring and technical documentation
• Process development and manufacturing support
• Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Office
• Ability to obtain U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizens only)

• Design analysis and design for manufacturing
• Team player with good communication skills
• Proficiency in dimensional and tolerance analysis
• Willingness to travel to test sites and suppliers
• Experience with electronic components, PCBs, and circuit card assemblies
• Knowledge of manufacturing best practices (Lean, 5S, Value Stream Mapping) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
