Hybrid Platform Engineer

TL;DR

Hybrid Platform Engineer (VMware/Kubernetes): Implement, troubleshoot, and sustain hybrid environments for the Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture with an accent on secure, air-gapped on-premises infrastructure and scalable cloud architectures. Focus on administration of VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0, container platforms like Kubernetes v1.35, system monitoring, backups, and security hardening.

Location: Hybrid in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. Must be a US citizen in possession of a Secret Security Clearance.

What you will do

• Implement, troubleshoot, and sustain hybrid environments including physical hardware, hypervisors, and cloud architectures (VCF 9.0, AWS GovCloud, Azure for US Government).
• Administer lifecycle management and security hardening of VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 appliance suite.
• Implement and maintain container platforms (Kubernetes v1.35, Docker, Podman) and repositories.
• Conduct system monitoring, backups, restoral, upgrades, and cyber security mitigations per policies and SLAs.
• Collaborate with system engineers on requirements, designs, implementation, and testing of new systems.
• Design system architecture, decompose problems, identify risks, and function as a self-starter.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen with Secret Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Security+ certification or equivalent (must acquire within 60 days of hire).
• 2+ years professional experience in task areas; familiarity with cloud engineering, enterprise hardware (HPE Synergy, HPE Nimble, NetApp ONTAP), Kubernetes/containerization, major cloud platforms, networking, storage, identity, DevSecOps.
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds and adhere to PPE safety protocols.

Nice to have

• Experience in MDA/DoD organizations, continuous delivery tools (VCFA Blueprints, GitLab, ArgoCD), automation (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, HELM, Bash), hybrid/multi-cloud design, Red Hat Linux (RHEL 9.x), agile environments.
