What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy LLM-powered features including lab result summaries and practitioner-facing conversational agents.
• Develop backend services integrating LLMs and ML models using Python, with future exposure to Elixir.
• Implement prompting, grounding, retrieval, and safety strategies to improve output quality and clinical relevance.
• Establish evaluation, monitoring, and CI/CD workflows for hallucination detection and production reliability.
• Collaborate with medical, product, and engineering stakeholders to translate clinical needs into scalable AI capabilities.
• Own AI systems end-to-end from early experimentation and prototyping through production deployment and iteration.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in ML engineering, applied AI, or backend engineering with a track record of shipping production systems.
• 2+ years of recent hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications (RAG, conversational agents, tool use).
• Strong backend development proficiency in Python and solid SQL fundamentals.
• Experience integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic) using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Hugging Face.
• Strong engineering practices including Git, testing, CI/CD, and production observability.
• Ability to validate LLM-based applications for correctness, edge cases, and reliability over time.

Nice to have

• Experience with Elixir, Phoenix, or functional programming.
• Background building AI assistants or decision-support tools in healthcare or other high-trust regulated environments.
• Familiarity with MCP, Langfuse, or multi-step AI orchestration patterns.
