What you will do
- Collaborate with design engineers on manufacturability for initial designs, flight hardware, and tooling.
- Develop innovative manufacturing systems for large spacecraft assemblies including electromechanical sub-assemblies, harnessing, structures, and mechanisms.
- Create custom tools, processes, and MES software to support manufacturing technologies.
- Demonstrate advanced techniques on prototypes and improve design manufacturability.
- Develop subassembly build flows and iterate for efficient satellite production.
- Partner on R&D of novel manufacturing technologies for current and future spacecraft.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or relevant engineering discipline.
- 3+ years in high-volume, rapid production environment in manufacturing, integration, or design engineering.
- Demonstrated results in product development and process improvements.
- Experience setting up manufacturing/production floor for first article builds.
- Experience with avionics subassembly manufacturing including wire harness and PCBA/mechanical enclosure assembly.
- Experience designing tooling for mechanical/electronics subassemblies and hardware for manufacturability.
- Experience developing production processes from ground up and driving design improvements.
- Working closely with technicians and build tooling.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing standards (soldering, torque, welding, QA).
- Must be a “U.S. person” per ITAR regulations (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual).
- Familiarity with CAD (NX or equivalent) and GD&T.
- Experience with MES for procedures and non-conformances.
