Satellite Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Partner with design engineers to ensure manufacturability across initial designs, flight hardware, and tooling.
• Develop manufacturing systems for large spacecraft assemblies, including electromechanical subassemblies, wire harnesses, welded and bolted structures, and mechanisms.
• Build prototypes, test advanced manufacturing techniques, and improve spacecraft component designs with engineering teams.
• Design custom tools, manufacturing processes, and MES-supported workflows.
• Define and improve subassembly build flows and production processes for satellites.
• Research novel manufacturing technologies and transition validated methods to flight hardware and production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in a high-volume, rapid-production environment in manufacturing, integration, or design engineering.
• Demonstrated results in product development or process improvement.
• Experience setting up a manufacturing or production floor for first-article builds.
• Experience developing avionics subassembly manufacturing processes, including wire harnesses and PCBA or mechanical enclosure assembly.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Tooling design experience for mechanical subassemblies and electronics.
• Hardware design for manufacturability and production process development from the ground up.
• Experience working with technicians and build tooling.
• Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing standards, including soldering, torque, welding, and quality assurance standards.
• Experience with NX or equivalent CAD software, GD&T, and MES documentation.
