TL;DR
Software Development Engineer in Test (Rust/Aerospace): Designing and owning software test frameworks for flight software stacks with an accent on HIL/SIL infrastructure and CI/CD integration. Focus on reducing flaky tests, improving coverage, and verifying safety-critical avionics for high-power satellites.
Location: Los Angeles, CA. Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (citizen or Green Card holder) or eligible for an export control license.
Salary: $135,000 - $175,000 + equity

What you will do
- Design, develop, and own software test frameworks for flight software subsystems, including propulsion, GNC, power, thermal, and communications.
- Build and maintain automation tooling integrated into CI/CD pipelines for fast and reliable software deployment.
- Develop hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) test infrastructure in collaboration with flight software engineers.
- Create tooling for test execution, data collection, and anomaly triage to provide actionable signals.
- Collaborate with avionics and systems engineers to define test requirements, write test plans, and execute verification campaigns.
- Analyze test results to identify and characterize failures and drive resolutions across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks from scratch.
- Proficiency with CI/CD systems (e.g., GitLab Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and Git.
- Experience with HIL testbeds or embedded systems testing for avionics, robotics, or autonomous vehicles.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, etc.) or eligible for a federally issued export control license.
Nice to have
- Rust programming experience, specifically in embedded or no_std environments.
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) or bare-metal embedded firmware.
- Familiarity with aerospace communication protocols (RS-422/485, Ethernet, UART, SpaceWire).
- Experience with electronics test equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power supplies.
- Containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes) and Embedded Linux.
