Appeals Advisory Committee Member (Charity Appeals): Advising on policy for broadcast appeals, selecting and scrutinising charities with an accent on governance, finance, strategy, and risk management. Focus on evaluating charity applications, assessing fundraising best practices, and advising on major appeals like Children in Need and Comic Relief.

What you will do
- Advise on general policy matters for broadcast appeals.
- Scrutinise and select charities for regular appeal slots.
- Assess risks in governance, finance, and strategy of charities benefiting from major appeals.
- Provide guidance on best practices in fundraising and fund management.
- Participate in 4 full committee meetings (3 hours each) and 4 sub-committee meetings (2 hours each) per year, reviewing 2-3 applications per sub-meeting.
- Offer ad-hoc advice on expertise-related matters.
Requirements
- Currently in executive leadership role in a charity (CEO or Senior Director).
- Expertise in environment/conservation (one role) or generalist charity experience with interest in social welfare, homelessness, and/or cultural fields (one role).
- Demonstrated expertise in at least 2 of: social policy, finance, fundraising, grantmaking, legal issues, monitoring and evaluation.
- Awareness of public service role of broadcast appeals and commitment to donor accountability.
- Understanding of advisory committee role vs. formal governance/executive positions.
