Lead Animator (VFX)

Lead Animator (VFX): Supervising and quality controlling animation artists for high-end feature films and television with an accent on character animation and team leadership. Location: Hybrid (Must be based in British Columbia, Canada and eligible to work in Canada)

Salary: $136,500 – $140,400 per year

What you will do

• Supervise and provide guidance to animation artists, fostering communication and creativity.
• Animate dynamic and believable character and non-character assets for feature films and TV.
• Collaborate with the Supervisor to develop creature/character styles, poses, and cycles.
• Perform comprehensive quality control on all submitted animation to ensure aesthetic and technical standards.
• Troubleshoot pipeline issues and collaborate with the rigging department to refine tools and rigs.
• Manage team time and resources to consistently meet weekly production targets.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience animating character and non-character assets for VFX or feature films.
• Experience leading teams of 6+ people on large projects (300+ shots).
• Expert knowledge of traditional animation principles, acting, and compositional design.
• Expert-level proficiency in Maya.
• Must be based in British Columbia and eligible to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Motion Capture.
• Working knowledge of Rigging.
