TL;DR
Software Design Release Engineer (Suspension): Supporting sourcing, validating, and releasing outsourced suspension control module software with an accent on end-to-end validation, supplier management, and issue resolution. Focus on leading product investigations, managing PRTS, coordinating test plans, and ensuring on-time delivery of integrated ART solutions.
Hybrid: expected to report to Warren, Michigan at least 3 times a week. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship; do not apply if you need sponsorship now or in the future.

What you will do
- Address controller and system safety concerns and lead product issue investigations via PRTS.
- Gather documents for sourcing, provide technical expertise, and facilitate requirements/design reviews with suppliers.
- Negotiate changes, update requirement documents, and organize Controller PDT meetings.
- Own and release software for development and production, manage part number proliferation.
- Create and manage validation plans including worst-case analysis, bench testing, and full test coordination with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier milestones, design changes, warranty analysis, and conduct supplier/plant visits as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science.
- Minimum 2+ years of automotive experience.
- Proficiency in software/hardware requirements, verification/validation processes.
- Understanding of engineering theory for mechanical/electrical mechanisms.
- High analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in relevant field.
- 8+ years of DRE experience.
- DFSS Black Belt Certified.
- Experience with GM product release process, customer interfaces, vehicle serial data (CAN, GMLAN, LIN).
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, OBD-II, Functional Safety, SAFe Agile.
