Firmware Development Engineer

TL;DR

Firmware Development Engineer (Embedded): Develop software with direct hardware interfaces including microcode, IP-specific firmware, FPGA, and DSPs with an accent on system-level innovation for next-generation computing systems. Focus on designing interfaces that abstract low-level hardware details, performing code reviews, testing, and validating product implementations.

Location: Virtual Canada - must live and work from Canada; fully home-based with occasional hirify.global site visits based on business need. Remote work from any other country is not permitted.

What you will do

• Develop firmware and software directly interfacing with hardware components like microcode, IP-specific firmware, FPGA, and DSPs.
• Design and implement interfaces abstracting low-level hardware details for higher-level software.
• Conduct design and code reviews, testing, and validation of product implementations.

Requirements

• Active student pursuing BASc or BS in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience or coursework in C and system software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• This position is not eligible for hirify.global immigration sponsorship.
• Must live and work from Canada.

Nice to have

• Software development experience in C++, Rust, SystemC, Python, or domain-specific languages.
• Experience or coursework with processors, servers, system software architecture, SoC architecture, IP architecture, or microarchitecture.
• Good knowledge of embedded systems, digital ASIC design, firmware development, and testing.
