TL;DR
Mechanical Designer (Marine/Subsea): Developing and optimizing rugged electromechanical and optical products for harsh marine and subsea environments with an accent on 3D CAD design and material selection. Location: Hybrid – Halifax, NS. Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in Canada (Controlled Goods Regulations).

What you will do
- Perform conceptual and detailed product design using 3D CAD software for marine and subsea environments.
- Analyze structural and pressure rated designs through calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Evaluate and select materials and components suitable for extreme environments.
- Prepare and verify design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BoMs).
- Define component and product test requirements, including safety measures and equipment.
- Provide technical support to purchasing, production, and QA to ensure design for manufacture and cost.
Requirements
- BASc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering (4+ years experience) or Engineering Technology Diploma (7+ years experience).
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency is required for security assessment.
- Experience in interpreting and applying industry rules and specifications.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with PTC Creo.
- Background in engineering analysis for high-pressure subsea rated designs.
- Experience with integrated control systems involving fluid, electrical, and electronic components.
