Director, Forward Deployed Engineering (AI)

TL;DR

Director, Forward Deployed Engineering (AI/Life Sciences): Owning technical strategy, integration architecture, and deployment of voice-forward AI agents for pharma and biotech customers with an accent on connecting agentic AI to complex enterprise IT infrastructures. Focus on designing secure API-first integration patterns, navigating pharma security reviews, and leading a team of engineers to translate enterprise contracts into production-grade implementations.

Location: Onsite in Palo Alto (5 days a week)

What you will do

• Lead technical strategy and deployment execution for voice-forward AI agents in life sciences.
• Act as the senior technical voice in enterprise sales cycles, RFP/RFI processes, and architecture reviews.
• Translate customer use cases into technical specifications for AI agent development and UAT.
• Design secure API-first integration architectures with CRMs (Veeva, Salesforce), EHRs, and data lakes.
• Own the end-to-end process for navigating pharma IT security reviews and vendor qualifications.
• Build and manage a high-performing team of Forward Deployed Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or Life Sciences.
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise technical integration or solution engineering, preferably in life sciences/healthcare.
• 5+ years of experience managing a team of integration engineers.
• Strong technical fluency in API design and cloud infrastructure.
• Proven ability to engage with C-level executives (CTOs, CISOs) and IT governance teams.
• Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments with ambiguous requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying AI, ML, or NLP platforms in enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of SOC 2, HIPAA technical safeguards, and CISO-level security evaluations.
• Hands-on experience with pharma IT ecosystems (Veeva, Salesforce Health Cloud, etc.).
• Startup or early-stage company experience.
