TL;DR

Intern, Hardware Research & Development (Hardware R&D): Supporting human research studies for next-generation sensor development and scientific innovation with an accent on hardware validation and data quality. Focus on preparing research equipment, executing lab-based data collection, and ensuring the accuracy of sensing capabilities.

Location: On-site in San Francisco, CA (5 days/week)

Salary: $33–$36/hr

What you will do

• Support hardware-focused human studies under the guidance of Research Coordinators and Project Managers
• Prepare and maintain research equipment, including battery status, firmware/app versions, and connectivity checks
• Track and organize research equipment inventory, including labeling and basic troubleshooting
• Contribute to protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and checklists for study visits
• Assess and flag quality concerns related to device signals such as missing data and motion artifacts
• Collaborate with Hardware and Data Science teams to keep documentation organized and up to date

Requirements

• Current undergraduate student studying biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, human biology, neuroscience, physiology, computer science, or a related field
• Experience or coursework related to human subjects research, lab work, or experimental design
• Comfort working hands-on with electronic devices and lab or test equipment
• Proficiency with Google Workspace tools and familiarity with iOS and/or Android devices
• Must be based in or able to be in San Francisco, CA for the summer
