TL;DR

Nuclear Safety and Security Analyst (Nuclear Security): Supporting the ODASD/NM on Nuclear Surety and Exercise Programs with an accent on risk assessments, policy reviews, and international coordination. Focus on refining threat evaluations, ensuring OSD policy compliance, and drafting high-level decision memos for senior leadership.

Location: Full-time onsite in Falls Church, VA. No hybrid or remote work options.

What you will do

  • Coordinate with the intelligence community to shape and refine threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments.
  • Provide support for policy reviews and interpretations in response to Military Departments’ requests.
  • Review safety studies and assist in the approval of Military Departments’ Weapon System Safety Rules.
  • Represent OSD policy and equities in international forums, such as the NATO Joint Theatre Surety Management Group.
  • Prepare decision memos, read-ahead packages, and talking points for senior OSD leadership.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international affairs/relations, security studies, or a similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the nuclear enterprise.
  • Experience drafting technically oriented documents for senior policy decision makers on highly classified topics.
  • Excellent writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in an OSD, Joint Staff, Service Staff, or Interagency environment.
  • Knowledge of nuclear weapons systems, operations, physical security, and safety.
  • Experience in intelligence analysis and coordination with agencies like DIA, DOE-IN, and FBI.
  • Familiarity with NATO nuclear security policy and international partner engagement.
