Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud)

TL;DR

Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud/Hybrid): Implementing and supporting hybrid infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments with an accent on reliability, security, and scalability. Focus on automating provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Ansible, and optimizing system performance across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Location: Hybrid in Reading, UK. Must have the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship provided).

Salary: £44,599 – £67,757 per year

What you will do

• Implement, configure, and maintain infrastructure components including servers, storage, networking, and cloud resources.
• Execute infrastructure changes and deployments following established designs and change management processes.
• Develop automation for provisioning and operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Implement security best practices, including system hardening, patching, and access controls.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity, responding to alerts and incidents.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support for infrastructure tickets and participate in an on-call rota.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Technology or IT Infrastructure/Operations roles.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Working knowledge of core networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, load balancing).
• Experience with virtualization or containerization (VMware, Hyper-V, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in infrastructure automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Terraform, Ansible).
• Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Nice to have

• Experience building reusable modules and runbooks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent.
