Principal Computer Vision Engineer (Sports Tech)

Location: Hybrid working – minimum 2 days per week in the office in Basingstoke, London, or Bristol

Salary: £76,340 – £109,060 base salary + bonus

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of a brand new, production-grade cricket tracking system.
• Own tracking pipelines across the full system and define evolving system architecture.
• Guide and mentor a small squad of 5–8 engineers to ensure scalability and quality.
• Drive robustness and accuracy in live sports environments, translating product requirements into technical roadmaps.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align technical delivery with goals.
• Explore future capabilities including AR and broadcast enhancements.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience developing computer vision algorithms in production environments.
• Deep knowledge of modern C++ within large and complex systems.
• Strong expertise in 3D geometry, tracking, and numerical optimisation.
• Proven experience designing systems or leading major architectural work.
• Ability to operate at both the detailed algorithm level and high-level system design.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers within a technical team.

Nice to have

• Experience with CUDA or GPU acceleration.
• Knowledge of concurrency, networking, or operating system concepts.
• Experience with distributed or cloud-based systems.
• Exposure to machine learning techniques.
