What you will do

• Shape organizational strategy and steward the external reputation, brand identity, and communications strategy.
• Oversee board governance systems and serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO.
• Lead the organization's fundraising efforts, with accountability for raising at least $8.5M annually.
• Direct the advocacy and policy agenda, including high-stakes charter renewal negotiations.
• Build and maintain critical relationships with elected officials, authorizers, and community stakeholders.
• Lead, coach, and develop senior leaders across the external affairs functions.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in communications, public policy, nonprofit management, or a related field.
• Professional experience in TK-12, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizational environments.
• Proven track record leading external affairs, policy, or advocacy in politically complex environments.
• Experience working with executive leadership and boards, including knowledge of Brown Act compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to shape enterprise-level organizational narratives and brand strategies.
• Must be based in or able to operate within Northern California
