TL;DR
Staff Designer, Vehicle OS (Automotive): Designing high-quality, performance-focused vehicle experiences for track and off-road use with an accent on driver-facing systems and real-time information density. Focus on creating intuitive, production-ready HMI solutions and mentoring other designers to elevate craft quality.
Location: Hybrid; Must report onsite to the GM Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan at least three times per week (Tue, Wed, Thu)

What you will do
- Lead the design of Performance and Offroad experiences, including specific apps, cluster faces, and brand variants.
- Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and safety teams to translate requirements into user-centered solutions.
- Own the end-to-end design process from early concepts and information architecture to final specifications.
- Ensure Performance and Offroad experiences remain on-brand while prioritizing clarity and usability.
- Utilize research and validation data to iterate on designs and improve the driver experience.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to an inclusive, curious team culture.
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience designing digital interfaces for automotive, web, mobile, or gaming.
- Degree in Interface Design, HCI, Visual Design, or a related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing UX and interaction design for data-rich, real-time systems.
- Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- No immigration sponsorship provided; must have valid US work authorization.
- Ability to balance aesthetics with functional clarity in safety-critical contexts.
Nice to have
- Experience with automotive HMI and performance-oriented vehicle programs.
- Hands-on experience with track and off-road driving environments.
- Proficiency in interactive prototyping for real-time systems.
- Experience working in lean or agile product development environments.
