Test Engineer (Aerospace)

TL;DR

Test Engineer (QA/Aerospace): Validating mission-critical Space Domain Awareness command-and-control software with an accent on functional and integration testing. Focus on developing automated test capabilities, validating computational outputs, and ensuring traceability of complex system workflows.

Location: Colorado Springs, CO. Hybrid (1–2 days in office), remote considered for well-qualified candidates. Must be a US Citizen

Salary: $100,000–$130,000

What you will do

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, cases, and procedures based on system requirements.
• Validate system behavior and data processing outputs across complex workflows and integrations.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing in diverse environments.
• Identify and track defects using Jira, collaborating with developers for timely resolution.
• Build and maintain automated tests to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
• Ensure full traceability between requirements, test cases, and results.

Requirements

• US Citizenship required
• Eligibility to obtain a US Government security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in software testing or quality assurance.
• Proficiency in a scripting or programming language such as Python or Java.
• Experience with defect tracking tools like Jira.

Nice to have

• Experience with automated testing frameworks like pytest or JUnit.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration.
• Familiarity with structured data validation (JSON, XML).
• Experience supporting aerospace, space operations, or defense software.
• Current or prior DoD security clearance.
