Integration Engineer (Healthcare)

TL;DR

Integration Engineer (Healthcare): Design, build, and maintain healthcare data integrations using Python, HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, and SQL with an accent on interoperability standards, system design, and data engineering. Focus on collaborating with delivery leads and product managers, optimizing performance, and troubleshooting production issues at scale.

Location: Onsite role based in Philadelphia, PA, five days per week at the client site with occasional travel to hirify.global headquarters in Palo Alto, CA.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain healthcare data integrations using Python, HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, and SQL.
• Collaborate with product and delivery teams to translate requirements into scalable, testable integration flows.
• Coordinate with offshore teams on implementation, review, and QA.
• Monitor and optimize performance across live integrations, resolving bottlenecks.
• Contribute to reusable components and integration templates for efficiency.
• Troubleshoot production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and ensure resolutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in healthcare integration or interoperability engineering.
• Strong understanding of HL7 v2, FHIR, and X12 standards.
• Hands-on experience with Python and at least one integration engine (Mirth, Rhapsody, InterSystems IRIS, or Redox).
• Comfortable working with RESTful APIs, JSON, and SQL.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong ownership mindset with attention to reliability, scalability, and quality.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with EHR APIs (Epic, Cerner, AthenaOne, or similar).
• Knowledge of FHIR bulk data workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), or cloud-based deployment pipelines.
• Background in AI/ML data pipelines or healthcare analytics.
