TL;DR

Site Reliability Engineer II (GCP/Fintech): Building and operating high-performance systems for the Clearing portfolio with an accent on observability, monitoring, and cloud migration. Focus on reducing toil through automation, ensuring system resiliency, and migrating clearing applications to Google Cloud Platform.

Location: Hybrid (Chicago, IL) — Must be based in the Chicago area (2 days per week on-site)

Salary: $93,900 – $156,500

What you will do

• Build and implement observability, monitoring, and alerting for key services.
• Collaborate with product teams to ensure requirements are planned and implemented safely.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response under senior guidance.
• Develop scripts and tools to reduce toil and increase operational velocity.
• Contribute to disaster recovery (DR) and systems resiliency testing and improvements.
• Support the migration of clearing applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Requirements

• Experience with Linux-based systems.
• Proficiency in basic programming and scripting (Python, Bash, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Must be local candidates in the Chicago area.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with GCP, GCE, or GKE.
• Experience with metrics and monitoring tools like OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and Kubernetes.
• Basic understanding of networking (HTTP/TCP/UDP/IP).
• Experience in financial markets or working with message-oriented middleware.
• Experience working in an agile environment.
