Vision Engineer (Manufacturing)

TL;DR

Location: Hybrid (Warren, MI). Requires onsite presence at least 3 days per week and travel up to 50% across North America.

What you will do

• Develop and implement machine vision solutions for quality inspection, defect detection, and robot guidance.
• Specify and procure vision components including cameras, lenses, and lighting.
• Collaborate with controls engineering and IT to establish system requirements and analyze performance.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using vision system data to improve manufacturing processes.
• Provide technical direction to engineers and support personnel at supplier and stamping facilities.
• Support production staff training and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Manufacturing) or Computer Science.
• 3+ years of experience developing vision systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be based in or able to relocate to Warren, Michigan.
• No immigration sponsorship available (must have permanent work authorization).
• Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.
• Proficiency with CAD systems (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and MS Project.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing vision systems.
• Experience with platforms like Cognex, Keyence, Matrox, or Fanuc 2D/3D.
• Programming skills in Python, C++, and OpenCV.
• Experience with AI-based vision systems, PLCs, and robotics.
