Lead Data Engineer (DoD)

TL;DR

Lead Data Engineer (Python/Kafka): Developing a cloud-based data service for command and control (C2) software with an accent on data fabric development and high-quality code integration. Focus on building scalable publish-subscribe models, optimizing database performance, and ensuring seamless integration between messaging systems and UI.

Location: Remote (United States). Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.

Salary: $137,300 - $180,100 per year

What you will do

• Develop and continuously improve a data service that underpins cloud-based applications.
• Support data and database modeling efforts to ensure system efficiency.
• Contribute to reusable component libraries and shared codebase within an agile delivery team.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, and product owners to integrate data services into end-user applications.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance through rigorous code reviews and testing strategies.
• Implement seamless integration between databases, messaging systems, and the frontend UI.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development or data engineering experience.
• Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.
• Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript; familiarity with Java and Bash.
• Experience implementing PostgreSQL, PostGIS, RabbitMQ, and Kafka-based data service architectures.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes (RKE2, Microk8s), and CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling and database optimization techniques.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deployment tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• Geospatial information system (GIS) experience, such as Geoserver.
• Experience integrating AI/ML into web-based applications.
• Proven track record of managing and mentoring development teams in an Agile environment.
