TL;DR
Database Engineer II (Relational/NoSQL): Design, implement, and optimize critical databases and processes with an accent on high availability, performance, security, and CI/CD integration. Focus on developing IaC for provisioning, monitoring solutions, query optimization, and troubleshooting production issues.
Location: Cleveland, OH (#LI-Hybrid). Employer does not offer work visa sponsorship.
Salary: $100,000-$120,000

What you will do
- Design, implement, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora, and MongoDB.
- Integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines for automated schema migrations, rollbacks, and testing.
- Develop and manage infrastructure as code for database provisioning using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, high availability, replication, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Optimize queries, indexes, execution plans, and collaborate with developers, SREs, and DevOps for secure integrations.
- Enforce security practices, automate tasks, and troubleshoot complex production issues with root cause analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years as Database Engineer/DBA, 3+ years in DevOps/Cloud environment.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora (deep in at least one).
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Liquibase, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Hands-on with IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Solid understanding of database security, encryption, auditing, Kafka, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
