What you will do

• Administer and optimize production databases including Couchbase, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Cosmos DB, and Snowflake across multi-cloud environments.
• Design and manage backup, disaster recovery, and resilience strategies with RTO/RPO validation and cross-region replication.
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting for high-severity production issues in 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and automation using Datadog, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Python, Bash, and IaC tools.
• Execute database migrations, upgrades, scaling, and security implementations including IAM, encryption, and compliance.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, DevOps, and application teams; mentor juniors and document processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years as DBA managing production systems at scale
• Strong hands-on with AWS services (RDS/PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Aurora, Backup) and Couchbase (clusters, XDCR, N1QL)
• Experience with Azure (Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL), multi-region systems, query optimization, SQL/N1QL
• Backup/restore/PITR/DR design and testing; monitoring with Datadog/CloudWatch/Azure Monitor
• Scripting/automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell); IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation); security/compliance
• Willingness for 24/7 on-call rotation

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s in CS or equivalent; cloud/database certifications (AWS, Azure, Couchbase)
• Snowflake administration; migration tools (AWS DMS, Azure DMS); streaming/CDC (Kafka, Kinesis)
• Containerized DB workloads (ECS, Kubernetes); document management or AI/ML databases
• Mentoring/leading DBAs
